1. The Weather Hasn’t Yet Been Frightful

We’ve flown under Mother Nature’s radar so far this fall and early winter, but that doesn’t mean we’re out of the woods yet.

Take a moment to familiarize yourself with the Absence Due To Adverse Weather Conditions policy (login required). Remember that your status as essential and non-essential will determine how you act when there are delays or closures.

In addition to the resources listed in the policy, you can also sign up for LU-Alerts via email and text message. The alert system is used for emergency notifications as well as closings and delays, so it’s a good idea to sign on to stay connected in general.

Finally, safety is the watchword. If the weather where you live is creating dangerous conditions, but the University is open because Bethlehem is in the clear, contact your supervisor to discuss your individual situation.

2. What Days Do We Have Off Again?

Have you taken a look at the Lehigh Holiday Calendar? If not, you may not realize which dates the University will be closed over the winter break.

Winter break holiday closures for the *majority of staff and faculty are as follows:

Friday, December 23
Monday, December 26
Monday, January 2

*The schedule is a bit different for our University Police and Powerhouse employees, whose schedules include weekend hours as well. If that’s you, be sure to consult the University Police and Powerhouse Employee Holiday Schedule

3. Lehigh Expands Presence on Both Coasts

Lehigh’s Investment Office will be moving to New York City as part of its work to ensure the best management of the University’s assets.

As of early January 2017, the Investment Office will be located at:

130 W 42nd St, Suite 905
New York, NY 10036

If you have any questions regarding this move, please contact Investment Office Business Manager Elaine Kudella at extension 83034.

Earlier this year, Provost Pat Farrell announced the opening of a Western Regional Office for Lehigh. At the time of the announcement, Provost Farrell noted, “The Western Regional Office is geared toward engaging alumni, corporations, prospective students, and guidance counselors throughout the region and beyond.  Effective September 1, 2016, John W. Welty was appointed Vice Provost, WRO and will report to me.”

The office is located in San Mateo, offering centralized access to downtown San Francisco, the Silicon Valley and the East Bay (Oakland, Berkeley).
