Lehigh has opened several marked trails in our Forest Park. This first phase of the Forest Park Initiative is a tangible expression of Lehigh’s Inspiring the Future Makers Strategy and its accompanying 2025 campus master plan, Making the Future, which envisions connecting the entire campus through safe, multi-modal transportation.
Three trails – blazed Yellow, Orange and Blue – are now available to the Lehigh student, faculty and staff community. They can be accessed through trailheads at Sayre Park Lodge and Lookout Drive.
As you can read in this Lehigh News article, a public trail featuring two loops – blazed Green and Mist – is now also open to everyone via a trailhead at South Mountain Park. Future phases of the Forest Park initiative will include additional trails as well as greater active management of the forest to ensure its long-term sustainability.
To celebrate reaching this milestone, the Lehigh student, faculty and staff community joined together for an Earth Day afternoon ribbon cutting and hike beginning at the Sayre Park trailhead.
