Do you know where you stand when it comes to your current finances and your retirement investments? Maybe you need to ask yourself that all important question: How am I doing?

Lehigh HR is partnering with two of the university’s 403(b) voluntary retirement savings plan vendors to offer three ways to help you answer that question in April:

  1. Attend The TIAA-CREF Session On April 2

Rich Paolino from TIAA-CREF will be on campus on Tuesday April 2 at 4:00 p.m.to present How Am I Doing?: Understanding And Achieving Your Long-Term Financial Goals. This program is part of the company’s Financial Essential series.

This presentation will be help to you whether you’re just starting your financial planning, nearing retirement or somewhere in between. During the workshop, you’ll “meet” a variety of people in situations similar to what you are probably facing in your own life.

The program offers a chance to take stock of where you are and create a strategy and action plan to reach your ultimate objectives – taking care of your needs now and attaining a comfortable retirement.

  2. Get A Handle On Diversification With Fidelity On April 17

Asset allocation? Risk vs. return? Replacement ratio? You don’t need to be a Wall Street whiz to make solid decisions about your investments. Just sign up for Fidelity’s workshop, Building A Portfolio For Any Weather, at 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday April 17.

Fidelity’s Todd Strunk puts the focus on fundamentals in this presentation. You’ll learn how to:

    • Recognize the characteristics of different asset classes (stocks, bonds, etc.)
    • Understand the benefits of diversification
    • Analyze your own portfolio, and
    • Apply what you’ve learned to your own investment portfolio.

  3. Sign Up For One-on-One Counseling

Both TIAA-CREF and Fidelity will offer one-on-one counseling at Lehigh in April. You can sign up for a private session whether or not you attend one of the workshops.

TIAA-CREF will offer private counseling sessions on campus prior to their workshop on April 2 with appointments available from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. They will also be back on campus on April 16 for a second full day of one-on-one sessions.

To schedule an appointment, call TIAA-CREF at 1-800-732-8353.

Fidelity will offer private counseling sessions (up to 45 minutes each) following their April 17 presentation.  Appointments are available between 10:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.

Call (800)-343-0860 or visit the Fidelity website to schedule your meeting.

Any day is the perfect day to focus on your financial future.  And with so many options to choose from, there’s almost no excuse not to do so in April.

Remember, while Lehigh’s retirement savings plan will be changing next January, the knowledge you’ll gain about basic principles of investment and retirement planning during TIAA-CREF and Fidelity’s visits will still be tremendously helpful.
