1)    Join the Presidential Search Conversation

With the search for Lehigh’s 14th president now officially underway, the Board of Trustees want to solicit input from the campus community.  In order to listen to as many people as possible, they are hosting a series of five open forums on campus at the end of March.

For convenience, the forums are organized around student, faculty and staff groupings, however you are invited to attend one of any of the forums that your schedule permits.  Representatives from Isaacson Miller, the search firm that is assisting with the search, as well as members of the Presidential Search Committee, and other trustees will be on hand at the meetings.

No RSVP is necessary. Attend one of the sessions listed below:

2)    Important Reminders For Flexible Spending Accounts

If you have a Health Care Flexible Spending Account (HCFSA) or a Dependent Care Flexible Spending Account (DCFSA), we have a few reminders for you.

Enrolling With WageWorks: When setting up your 2014, or making new claims against your 2013, account(s) with our new FSA administrator, WageWorks, you will be asked for a four digit number. The form, both on line and in paper form, asks for either the last four digits of your “ID Code” or your social security number. In fact, you may ONLY use the last four digits of your Lehigh ID Number (LIN). Please DO NOT use your social security number.

Upcoming 2013 Reimbursement Deadline: The “run out” period for 2013 DCFSAs and HCFSAs closes on March 31, 2014. A run out period is the time following a plan year during which you can still submit qualifying expenses for reimbursement. In the case of both accounts, that is a three-month period.

Only qualifying expenses incurred from January 1 through December 31, 2013 can be submitted for reimbursement from your 2013 FSA(s).

Reminder About New Carryover Rule: This is the first year that you can carry over up to $500 from the prior plan year (2013) into the next (2014) if you did not spend your entire HCFSA amount. More details about this are available here.

3)    Credit Union Scholarships Available

Have you been trying to get your teenager to open a savings or checking account? Maybe a chance at a $1,000 scholarship will do the trick.

Bethlehem Teachers Federal Credit Union has designated $3,000 in scholarship funds to help young members defray costs as they strive to realize their educational goals. Three $1,000 scholarships will be offered to members who are entering an institution of higher learning in the fall of 2014.

Any child of a credit union member can open an account. BTFCU even has a special Student Care Package account that is designed for high school students.

For all the details on the scholarship, go to the BTFCU website. The scholarship application deadline is Wednesday, April 30, 2014.
