Iron Pigs Night A Huge Success

On Saturday June 16, ERAC sponsored the “Take Dad Out to the Ball Game” event at Coca-Cola Park.  Approximately 150 Lehigh people, friends and family attended the event.  We think it sounded like more, because when Lehigh’s name was announced during the second inning, a thunderous roar rose up from our section.

Way to go, Lehigh!  Representing Lehigh in the first pitch was Henry Wight-Young, son of James Young, LTS. Henry certainly gave the catcher a run for his money.  Could this be the next starting Iron Pigs Pitcher??

We were greeted by the Philadelphia Phanatic, Ferrous and FeFe, much to the delight of the kids.  Although the Pigs lost to the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Rail Riders, fans never lost their stride by cheering their team to the end.  All in all, it was a beautiful night for baseball.  Between hot dogs, popcorn, nachos and beer, everyone had a great time.  Looking forward to next summer’s adventure at the Ball Park with ERAC!

ERAC Membership Changes

I would like to thank Seth Goren and the rest of the outgoing ERAC members for their support and dedication throughout the year in working to better staff relations within the university.  As we move forward, I would like to welcome Tom Yencho as the new Vice-Chair and our newest members: Bob Brunio, Transportation; Cindy Moser, Research and Graduate Studies; Lynn Chermansky, Risk Management; Katie Welsh-Radande, Study Abroad; Dan Zeroka, Civil and Environmental Engineering; and Travis Spencer, Athletics. Our current members continue to fulfill their commitment to making Lehigh a better place to work.

On behalf of ERAC, we extend a final thank you to Jackie Matthews, Vice President of Human Resources, who is retiring this month.  She was our advisor who gave guidance and insight into the workings of HR and the University.  Thank you, Jackie.  Your interaction will be missed.

Upcoming events may include another brown bag on tablets/smartphones, the South Side Bethlehem-Lehigh University Partnership, university communications, and other topics.  Stay tuned for more information as the summer winds down and the semester kicks into high gear.

Remember, your ERAC members are just an email or phone call away.  Please let us know of any concerns, issues or events you would like us to consider during the next year.

We wish you a safe and pleasant end of the summer and hope to see you at an ERAC event this fall.

Denise Stangl, Chair, ERAC
