Backpack Pals needs Lehigh’s help!
Building on the success of last year’s Fill the Trailer event, ERAC will sponsor a campus-wide collection for the Backpack Pals program, benefiting Broughal Middle School and Donegan Elementary School, two Lehigh University community schools.
On May 12, ERAC will collect the approved items for the Backpack Pals program in various areas across campus, including The Farmers’ Market at Farrington Square.
The backpacks – containing easy-to-make foods and snacks as well as hygiene and school products – provide students with nutritional and educational supplements over long holiday weekends. More than 90 percent of the schools’ populations qualify for free or reduced lunches, an indication of the number of students for whom school meals are a vital portion of their nourishment.
