Have you heard about Crucial Conversations from one of the hundreds of Lehigh staff across campus who have taken the class? If you have, you’ll know it’s a powerful tool for communicating both in the work and personal spheres.

If you are worried you have missed your chance to take advantage of the program’s benefits, we have great news! A new class is forming and will meet in February 2014.

If you haven’t heard about Crucial Conversations, here’s the lowdown:

Crucial Conversations is a multi-day course that teaches skills for creating alignment and agreement by fostering open dialogue around high-stakes, emotional, or risky topics.

By learning how to speak and be heard (and encouraging others to do the same), you begin to surface the best ideas, make the highest-quality decisions, and then act on those decisions with unity and commitment.

Lehigh offers Crucial Conversations in four half-day sessions over the course of a month. Each week, the material builds so that by the end, you are ready to plan and engage in productive dialogue with colleagues at all levels.

Crucial Conversations is also a pre-requisite to the new program, Crucial Accountability. If you are considering taking that course in the fall, you must first go through the Crucial Conversations class.

How To Register

The February class will meet from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 noon on February 11, 18 and 25, and March 4, 2014.

You can register for February’s Crucial Conversations class now by going to the HR Online Registration tool. Keep in mind that you should first discuss taking the course with your supervisor, as it does require a significant time commitment.
