All Faculty and Staff Expected to Complete New Online Harassment Training Tool

In an effort to educate members of the campus community about all forms of harassment, Lehigh is implementing a policy requiring all faculty, staff, and students to have a baseline of training to recognize and know what to do if they or someone they know are victims of harassment.  
 
In mid-December, you received an email from Patricia Johnson, Vice President of Finance and Administration, and Provost Pat Farrell about an online training module that helps achieve this goal. This training is also required by the university’s Resolution Agreement with the U.S. Department of Education Office for Civil Rights (OCR).
The value of this training is creating a university-wide baseline of understanding and a building block for improving campus climate.  As employees, we are also setting an example for our students who expected to participate as well. University leadership has identified March 1, 2015 as the desired completion date for staff and faculty.
 
Over the past few months, more than thirty in-person presentations on harassment and/or gender violence have been made to more than 975 members of the Lehigh community, including students, staff and faculty.  Offering the online tool expands these efforts to familiarize all employees and students with the university's current Harassment Policy.
 
The university is also in the process of reviewing the current Harassment Policy, with the expectation that any modifications will be finalized this spring. The current policy can be viewed on the university's Harassment Information and Resources webpage.
 
In their email, Patricia and Pat noted, “Every individual on our campus has a shared responsibility for contributing to a culture of respect, and acts of hostility or harassment based on age, color, disability, gender identity or expression, genetic information, marital or familial status, national or ethnic origin, race, religion, sex, sexual orientation, or veteran status are not acceptable. They are fundamentally inconsistent with the values of this university.”
 
How To Access and Complete The Training Tool
 
  • Set aside 30 to 40 minutes to complete the training
  • Go to www.edurisklearning.org
  • First-time users should select the option to "Register Now" on the right side of the screen and follow these five steps register:
  • Create a user-name and provide information for a user profile.
  • Be sure to enter a valid Lehigh email address and correct role at the University.
  • Select the department and position that is most applicable to you.
  • Enter this institution registration code: 0142-UN37-XY12
  • Click “register.”
  • You should receive an email with a link and temporary password.
  • Follow the link in the email to sign on.
  • You will be prompted to enter a new password.
  • Select "Get Started" under "Workplace Harassment Prevention" from the list of learning programs.
  • Select "Get Started" under "Workplace Harassment Prevention 110" (Be sure to set your pop-up blocker to allow www.edurisklearning.org.).
  • Select "Course" under "Take a Course" [also note that there are two PDF files that you can review: Overview of the Law on Harassment and Preventing Unlawful Harassment - Tips for Employees]
  • Select "Module," then, select "Open" to begin the course.
