“I would say it’s never the ‘right time.’  Start with one class and see how you feel. Ultimately you just have to do it . . . I wouldn’t have been able to do this without the support of my family. My husband owns his own landscaping company so spring is a really busy time for him. He is gone from sun up to sun down. So I had to rely heavily on my parents, my two sisters and my mother-in-law. ”

Stacey Lange

“I really enjoyed the Venture Series classes. They’re weekend classes and one credit each. You have to think on your feet. You go in in the morning with a blank slate and by the afternoon you’re making presentations to real venture capitalists and business owners. It’s hands-on, highly interactive and intense, but you walk away having learned a lot. You’re tired but you’re thinking, ‘yeah, when’s the next one?’”

Morgan Nelson

Associate Director of Regional and Affinity Groups, Development and Alumni Relations

MEd, Educational Leadership

“I was very motivated to complete my degree. I had my children during the process of earning my bachelor’s and master’s degrees, but I kept going. I thought it would be more difficult to get back into the swing of things if I took time off. For my daughter to see me working hard and ultimately graduating was hopefully inspiring and a good example for her.”

Julia Oltman

Assistant Director for Technology, Athletics

PhD , Teaching and Learning Technology

“You don’t finish a PhD unless you’re really passionate about what you’re studying. At that point it becomes an exercise in persistence. I was just stubborn enough to actually finish. Life gets in the way sometimes, but you get it done. If you’re thinking about doing it, I advise you to find something you love. If you don’t find something you’re willing to spend multiple years with, learning pretty much everything there is to know about it, it’s not going to happen.”
