A lot of behind-the-scenes work is going on to prepare for our new retirement plan, which takes effect January 1, 2014. TIAA-CREF, the record-keeper selected as a result of a competitive vendor proposal process, is working with Lehigh’s HR team to accomplish everything that is necessary for a smooth transition.
One of the most important aspects of this transition is our communications to you about the new plan’s features and the process for enrolling this fall. You can expect to see a number of key communications in the early fall, including an announcement letter, a detailed transition guide, and a website. We’ll also be sharing dates and times of group meetings and one-on-one counseling sessions.
In the meantime, we encourage you to review the articles and documents pertaining to the new retirement plan that have already been shared with the campus over the past year:
- The Lehigh Benefits Philosophy Statement. This statement is the guiding document of the Benefits Allocation Review.
- The Senior Officers' Report. Pages 6 through 9 of this report outline the new retirement plan and the thinking behind it.
- Spotlight Articles. We have been covering the new retirement plan through a series of articles.
