1: TIAA-CREF is now TIAA

You may have noticed a change in the communications you receive from Lehigh’s retirement plan administrator. TIAA-CREF has re-branded itself as simply TIAA.  In addition to shortening their name, TIAA has also completed a re-design of its website intended to make the site easier for users to navigate and find the information they need in plain language.

Please note that this re-branding does not affect your retirement plan in any way.

You can visit the new TIAA website here.

2: Improved HR Workplace Learning Registration System Coming

As we work to evolve the University’s career development programs, HR is also overhauling its program registration system. We’ll be using the new Banner events management software module to better serve employees who want to enhance their Lehigh careers through professional development and other training opportunities.

Look for more details on the new system in April’s Spotlight.

3: Talk First: The New Performance Philosophy

As we’ve discussed elsewhere in past issues of Spotlight, performance management should be an ongoing discussion between employees and managers. The aim is for continuous dialogue throughout the year so that performance discussions are seen less as a report card and more as  a collaborative effort aimed at everyone reaching their goals.

To help you achieve the goal of regular feedback, the performance management team in HR has been working on a new approach to documenting performance discussions. Inspired by Student Affairs’ “bLUeprint” for first year students, the new Performance Draft Book will provide employees and managers a way to encourage conversation and keep a written journal throughout the year.

The Performance Draft Book is being piloted this spring. Rollout to the entire staff community will come in late summer or early fall.
