Lehigh’s current health care plan designs were introduced in 2006. While there have been small changes over time, those basic plan designs have not changed.

Recently the university engaged consultants from Mercer to assist with a review of the university’s current health care benefit plan design. As part of the review of the current plan, Mercer has launched a health care benefits survey of faculty and staff on behalf of the university. All benefits eligible faculty and staff should have received a link to the survey in their email earlier in the month.

Lehigh needs to hear from you, the employees who use these important benefits to keep you and your families healthy.

The survey takes about ten to fifteen minutes and asks a number of questions regarding your preferences and priorities with regard to health care benefits. Your responses will provide valuable feedback to help shape future of university-provided health benefits. If you haven’t responded to the survey yet, be sure to look for the email from Mercer with your unique link in your inbox. The last day to respond is Monday, November 23, 2015.

More About The Health Care Benefits Review

As the University looks to contain costs for both you and the campus, and the health care regulatory and legislative environment continues to shift based on Affordable Care Act (ACA) provisions, Lehigh University and its consultant, Mercer, are undertaking a thorough review of current and possible future offerings during this academic year. The goals of the review are:

  • Deliver health care plan design options that effectively meet the differing needs of our faculty and staff members.
  • Reduce the rate of cost increase for health care benefits.
  • Avoid diverting compensation dollars to federal excise tax payments resulting from the ACA.

Please note that benefit changes will not occur before January 1, 2017.
